Album
Words of Evil 9. Gates to Hell 8. Internal Bleeding 2. It was re-released on January 27, 1997 with remastered sound and liner notes. The music of Obituary wasn't simply an extreme form of Slayer-esque speed metal with ghastly vocals it was full-fledged death metal, with down-tuned guitar riffs of monstrous size, painful-sounding growls and moans for vocals, and distinct tempo changes that often brought the songs down to a lumbering doomy tempo rather relentlessly breakneck speeds à la thrash. The album was originally announced with a different tracklist which omitted Intoxicated for Cause of Death and a running order that was not used on the final release: 1. The remainder of the band's output. Despite this, it is widely considered to be Obituary's heaviest album. We Rot is the only Obituary album to feature bassist Daniel Tucker, guitarist Allen West would leave soon after but returned for the third album The End Complete. Obituary - Slowly We Rot 1989. In fact, on songs like Til Death and Slowly We Rot, they often sludged in the opposite direction, fabricating rigor mortis like the corpses John Tardy was barking and burping about. He sounds unbelievably malevolent, and between chainsaw guitar solos check Suffocation and double bass drums that actually roll, he gets all the wicked support he needs. Guitarist Allen West would leave soon after but returned for the third album The End Complete.
