Instead of following through on his storming, honking '50s and '60s R&B, Watts decided to take things in a different direction, toning things down a bit and concentrating on mellow grooves. There are a couple of uptempo workouts, of course, but the songs that make a lasting impression on Return of the Thin Man are the slower, conversational pieces that are warm, relaxed and friendly. It's the sound of an aging master who has found strength in maturity and isn't afraid to celebrate. Noble Thin Man Watts February 17, 1926 August 24, 2004 was an American blues, jump blues and rhythm and blues saxophonist. He primarily played tenor saxophone. Born in DeLand, Florida, Watts studied violin and trumpet in his youth, later switching to sax. He gained musical training at Florida A&M, where he played in the school's marching band with future.
