It is the first album to feature the band's current guitarist Jon Hudson, and was their last studio album before their eleven-year hiatus from 1998 to 2009. It spawned three singles: Ashes to Ashes, Last Cup of Sorrow, and Stripsearch. In Flames has become one of the more polarizing bands in metal. Their introduction in the metal scene provided creative riffs, with heavier breakdowns, and slowly turned toward a more popular and radio friendly version of what they once were.
