Playing Who's to Blame purchase Tu-Bryant is a talented vocalist and guitarist and helping her to shape her songs she has the Circus of Men Cory Champion on percussion and vocals, Daniel Yeabsley on double bass, Charley Davenport with cello and Tristan Carter offering violin and viola. That album, that performance is brought to mind whenever I listen to Live at Happy. Bjork and Tim Buckley seem obvious touchstones and theres a charm in the way the backing musicians know exactly when to sit out, to leave Nikita centre-stage, her songs proud, sounding deceptively simple. And theres such a warmth in the way the instruments are used, giving the music a hug. I like this.
