An Australian composer, Vines was trained at Sydney University a prodigal son, apparently before spending a decade or so teaching at Harvard. But this, folks, is no university hack. Nicholas Vines born Sydney, 1976, is an Australian composer currently based in Sydney. He studied at the University of Sydney with Anne Boyd, Peter Sculthorpe and Ross Edwards. He completed a PhD at Harvard University studying with Harrison Birtwistle, Bernard Rands, Magnus Lindberg, Julian Anderson, Lee Hyla, Mario Davidovsky, Judith Weir and Michael Finnissy.
