Love Hurts is a song written and composed by the American songwriter Boudleaux Bryant. First recorded by the Everly Brothers in July 1960, the song is also well known from a 1975 international hit version by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth and in the UK a top five hit in 1975 by the English singer Jim Capaldi. The song was introduced in December 1960 as an album track on A Date with The Everly Brothers, but was never released as a single A-side or B-side by the Everlys. The first hit version. Perhaps their best-known hit single was a cover of the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant penned ballad, Love Hurts, in 1975. The band continues to record and tour. Nazareth made this song a hit, but it was originally released by the Everly Brothers on their 1960 album A Date With The Everly Brothers. Like their heartbreak hit from 1957, Bye Bye Love, it was written by Boudleaux Bryant. Young love is hot with passion, but it burns you when it's hot. The group is from Scotland and had three UK hits under their belts when they released Love Hurts late in 1974. Surprisingly, it tanked, but in April 1975 it became a hit in South Africa, prompting their label, A&M, to release it in America.
