The band began making the album while touring on the road in 2011 and it was recorded at multiple locations: Ohm Recording Studio in Austin, Texas, Temporary Autonomous Zone in St. Louis, Missouri, and Thee Hallowed Sound Dungeon in Boston, Massachusetts.
