17, K453 & No. For her fifth live recording of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's piano concertos with the Cleveland Orchestra, Mitsuko Uchida presents the Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K 453, and the Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major, K 503, a delightful pairing that reflects her previous albums in this critically acclaimed series on Decca. Superior Mozart Pianist Mitsuko Uchida Chicago Tribune concludes her. 25 in C major, K. 503, was completed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on December 4, 1786, alongside the Prague Symphony, K. Although two more concertos K. 537 and K. 595 would later follow, this work is the last of what are considered the twelve great piano concertos written in Vienna between 1784 and 1786. Chronologically the work is the 21st of Mozart's 23 original piano concertos. No pianist conveys the rapture of Mozart quite like Mitsuko Uchida does. The Independent. To me this slower pace works well with K. 453 it detracts from otherwise beautiful playing by both Uchida and the Cleveland Orchestra - in K. Indeed, my sense is K. 503 is one of the least receptive Mozart Piano Concertos to a slower pace in the opening and closing movement. I recommend this CD as long as listeners are comfortable with the pace on this CD in particular the pace for K.
