Album

It all began in 1992, when Jan Werner, one half of Mouse on Mars, sent a tape to the duo's favorite British label, the home of Stereolab and Seefeel, enclosing a polite note that read in part, You may not like what we're doing, but thanks for releasing those records. Main Album. Rost Pocks: The EP Collection. Release Date. Review by John Bush. Coming out of electronica's left field, Mouse on Mars released three albums and five EPs for the British hyper-indie Too Pure between 1994 and 1997. The duo would later kick-start an abstract electronic community based in Köln, but during these years Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma were simply two creative German lads using the same instruments as many dance producers but conjuring radically different, wildly creative music from them. Too Pure, on the album ROST POCKS, collects tracks from the numerous and varied Mouse on Mars EPs. And it's quite an overview of their career, from the spacy and wiggling Frosch to the hectic Twift, after which point they began releasing on their own Sonig label. From the swinging Bib to the dubby Schnee Bud, Mouse on Mars embraces the melodic Schnick-Schnack as well as the noisy Rototon, the experimental 7000 and more conventional Lazergum. Undoubtedly, the highlight is the delicate chanson Cache Couer Naif featuring the French vocals of Laetitia from Stereolab, a favorite of mine to this day. Mouse on Mars formed in 1993 when Andi Toma, from Dusseldorf, and Jan St. Werner, from Cologne, met at a speed metal festival in Stockholm and decided to form a band. With eleven albums and eleven Mouse On Mars have gained a reputation as one of the most innovative and productive bands of today's popular music scene. the true inheritors of kraftwerk's mantle MUZAK Magazine. The band itself never encouraged this comparison. They rather consider their efforts as fragmented and always reforming ideas which are not after the clean design of pop aesthetics b read more. Too Pure, on the album ROST POCKS, collects tracks from the numerous and varied Mouse on Mars EPs. From the swinging "Bib" to the dubby "Schnee Bud," Mouse on Mars embraces the melodic (“Schnick-Schnack”) as well as the noisy (“Rototon”), the experimental (“7000”) and more conventional (“Lazergum”). Undoubtedly, the highlight is the delicate chanson "Cache Couer Naif" featuring the French vocals of Laetitia from Stereolab, a favorite of mine to this day. As an album, though, it lacks a certain cohesiveness, but that's somewhat to be expected, considering the format.
