Yes, this is Motorhead first album. Band said that "Motorhead" album was first released, first album in record stores, but "On parole" was recorded first with original line up before Eddie Clarke. "On parole" was recorded from December 1975 'til January 1976. On wikipedia it say september 1975 thats wrong! Line up Lemmy/Larry Wallis/Lucas Fox started on 20 July 1975 as first show and first working day. They were on the road on September too so they couldnt be in studio in the same time. In December 1975 they recorded 4 songs, and after that Lucas left the band. On his place came Phil Taylor and they overdubed Lucas version of songs except "Lost Johnny" and thats first album. As Motorhead came from Hawkwind and Pink Fairies (not metal) you can see it on this album. Only one song was original "Iron horse", song which roadie wrote. Other were three songs from Hawkwind (Motorhead, The Watcher, Lost Johnny), one from Pink Fairies (City Kids), three from Larry Wallis solo work (On Parole, Vibrator, Fools) and one cover "Leaving Here". Album was finished in January 1976, in March Larry left and Eddie Clarke came in band. On album "Motorhead" they had 7 songs from this album and 6 new (on this album sessions there were 13 songs, 4 came out as EP but on cd release there are all 13), those 6 new songs, some were covers "Im your witchdoctor", "Beer drinkers and hellraisers", "The train kept a rollin", a new songs "Instro", "Keep us on the road", "White Line Fever". Songs "Lost Johnny" and "Keep us on the road" wrote Mick Farren. Lemmy was in Rockin Vickers, influence you can hear in songs like "Going to Brazil", after that he was in Sam Gopal influence you can hear in song like "Dead and Gone" after that in Hawkwind. Band The Deviants was with Mick Farren and four guys who will later form Pink Fairies with John Alder Twink. Larry Wallis was frontman and boss in Pink Fairies from 1973. Guys from Hawkwind and Pink Fairies were working together as well with Deviants too and with John Alder Twink, as well Sam Gopal, Lemmy, worked in band with Andy Clarke and Mick Hutchinson who were later known as band Clark Hutchinson. Guys from Hawkwind (Lemmy) and Pink Fairies (Larry) form Motorhead in 1975. So there is nothing to do with metal. Second guitarist Eddie Clarke who later came after Larry, was in band Curtis Knight Zeus, blues rock - prog rock band. Recomended. There were than three live albums after album "Motorhead", they are: Blitzkreig On Birmingham, Iron Fist And The Hordes From Hell and Lock Up Your Daughters. After that it was "Overkill" and Motorhead turned another page in their music evolution. Those albums here goes like this when they were recorded not released. For most bands first album is best. It is very important to know this facts about Motorhead start, to understand what is Motorhead and Motorhead roots and why Lemmy insist they are rnr and not metal. We should listen band and music industry what they say what is Motorhead. Enjoy.
