is the debut studio album by American post-punk band Mission of Burma, following their 1981 EP, Signals, Calls, and Marches. It was released in October 1982 by record label Ace of Hearts. It is the only full-length studio album the band released during the 1980s and until 2004, as soon afterward they disbanded due to guitarist Roger Miller's worsening tinnitus. Mission of Burma is an American post-punk band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1979. The band was formed by Roger Miller guitar, Clint Conley bass, Peter Prescott drums and Martin Swope tape manipulatorsound engineer. Like many of their post-punk contemporaries, Mission of Burma's efforts are largely concerned with extending punk's original vocabulary without losing its essential rebellious spirit. Mission Of Burma have pulled off a substantial coup in The Obliterati, simultaneously underlining their own relevance and that of punk's, as anything other than a stylist's tool. Their second album after reforming in 2002 - near-on 20 years after their initial split - is an incredibly intense, focused and controlled affair, with the one-two combo of 13 and Man In Decline at its core.
