Missing Persons is an American rock band. The band was founded in 1980 in Los Angeles by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, vocalist Dale Bozzio, and drummer Terry Bozzio. They later added bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild. Dale's quirky voice and heavy makeup made the band a favorite on MTV in the early 1980s. Dale and Terry Bozzio met while working with Frank Zappa, and they married in 1979. Cuccurullo encountered the pair while contributing to the Zappa album Joe's Garage 1979. Lost Tracks is a compilation album by American new wave band Missing Persons, released in 2002. Nevertheless, it was as much a part of Missing Persons' sound as were the prominent keyboards and bopping guitar lines, and all three elements are alive and well on Best of Missing Persons. Formed about 1980, Missing Persons bounced around the California music scene, cutting a four song album under the ageis of Frank Zappa but without making much of an impression until 1982, when the band released SPRING SESSION M. The album went gold, and with Dale Bozzio's sexy-quirky voice and style the band became a popular television and early video favorite. Tensions within the band caused it to dissolve about the same time, and although their have been brief reunions none have been significant. And so Missing Persons has slowly but surely entered the halls of relatively obscurity, a musical memory of the 1980s that fades a bit more with every passing year.
