"Ponoćni Express" is a charming little piece of minimalistic exotic synthpop, always on the verge of kitsch, that sounds like a croatian recipe made with elements of Sylvia Love's "Extraterrestrial Lover", Dee Dee Jackson's "Automatic Lover" with bits of 'minimal wave' or synth oddities a la Popcorn thrown in for good measure.
And the "eastern bloc train" post-Kraftwerk theme is here, quite inspiring for a whole synth/cold war scene as also witnessed in Conrad Schnitzler's Berlin Express project whose proto-techno 12-inch released two years later sounds like it could have borrowed a couple of elements in there, quite strangely.
All in all, a quite graceful oddity encapsulating quite ideally Europe's late 70s/early 80s post-disco-meets minimal wave zeitgeist.
