Kill 'Em All is regarded as a groundbreaking album for thrash metal because of its precise musicianship, which fuses new wave of British heavy metal riffs with hardcore punk tempos. The album's musical approach and lyrics were markedly different from rock's mainstream of the early 1980s and inspired a number of bands who followed in similar manner. Kill 'Em All is Metallica's debut album, released on July 25, 1983 on Megaforce Records. Metallica's original line-up featured James Hetfield vocalsrhythm guitar, Dave Mustaine lead guitar, Ron McGovney bass, and Lars Ulrich drums. Because of tensions with Mustaine, McGovney left the band. Castro Valley-born bassist Cliff Burton was recruited as his replacement. Before Kill 'Em All was recorded, the songs were written and recorded as demos by James Hetfield, Lloyd Grant, Ron McGovney and Lars Ulrich. On later demos, featuring the first full tracks that would appear on Kill 'Em All, Dave Mustaine took Lloyd's place and Ron w.
