Album

If you're already a serious Mark Lanegan fan, Has God Seen My Shadow covers a lot of familiar ground, but the 12 unreleased tracks amount to an album's worth on unheard pleasures, and if you've never been introduced to Lanegan's music, this is beautiful, challenging stuff for those dark nights of the soul. An Anthology 1989-2011. Light in the Attic. Though it spans two discs and 32 tracks, Has God Seen My Shadow is by no means a definitive compendium of Lanegans work, focussing squarely on material released under his own name while steering clear of his countless extracirricular projects and growl-for-hire guest appearances. As such, its a rather narrow overview of an artist whose interests and pursuits have proven far more eclectic than this stridently low-key collection would suggest. AN ANTHOLOGY 1989-2011. Collecting Lanegan's solo material for Sub Pop, Beggars and more plus 12 unreleased tracks, this is the archive treatment Mark has long deserved. Has God Seen My Shadow is a 3-disc compilation album by Mark Lanegan, featuring songs from his releases between 1989-2011. It was released in January 2014 under Light in the Attic Records. The first two discs in the set contain tracks from his solo albums, while the third disc contains previously unreleased songs from various time frames and recording sessions. Track 2-7 was published by Steve Winco Music BMI obo Ripplestick Music BMI and recorded at llaD Los Angeles CA circa 2011. Track 2-8 was published by John Cale Music BMI and recorded at Jupiter Studios Seattle, Wa circa 1998. Track 2-9 was published by Steve Winco Music BMI obo Ripplestick Music BMI and recorded at Ironwood Seattle, WA circa 1990. An Anthology 1989-2011 by Mark Lanegan, The three-disc collection for the former Screaming Trees frontman includes songs from his solo releases between 1989-2011 and 12 previously unrelea. This beautifully packaged anthology traces the former Screaming Trees frontman's journey toward becoming gothic Americana's own Man in Black. It's a role he's clearly grown into, navigating the dark waters between blackness, self-parody and beautiful songwriting with increasing aplomb. The two CDs are full of trademark ruminations on death, religion and drunkenness of the kind that sees him drinking so much sour whiskey that I can't see

Really a gorgeous package and a first class pressing. Great fidelity and the 3 records are in 3 protective sleeves inside the thick cardboard sleeves to prevent the usual paper sleeve scratching. At only $13 per record if you buy the package new, it's too good to be true, but it's true!

This compilation is worth every cent you spend on it. I have the black vinyl version and it is heads and shoulders above the red vinyl pressing in terms of dynamics. If you are an audiophile and crave the very best in sound reproduction, this is a go to album for a taste of Mark Lanegan (who consistently puts out great music with great recordings on great pressings). Outstanding!
