Midwest Farmer's Daughter isn't merely an autobiographical title for the retro country singersongwriter Margo Price, it's a nice tip of the hat to one of her primary inspirations, Loretta Lynn. The connections between the two country singers don't end there. Toward the end of her career, the Coal Miner's Daughter wound up collaborating with Jack White for 2004's Van Lear Rose, and White's Third Man Records provides a launching pad for Price, releasing her self-financed solo debut as-is as Midwest Farmer's Daughter. Margo Price Format: Audio CD. Margo Price I like this album a lot, no wonder she's signed to Jack White's third Man Records It is said that to record her debut album, she hocked her wedding ring and car to pay for the sessions at the legendary Sun Studios. i would say that was money well spent The first song on this album is Hand's of Time a six minute song that speaks to Margo's life: a tale of loss, real struggles and real goals, make a little cash, and bring home my mamma home some wine. Margo Prices debut album was released March 26, 2016, on Third Man Records. She released Hurtin' On the Bottle as the first single on December 4, with Desperate and Depressed as a B-Side not included on the album. The title Midwest Farmers Daughter is both autobiographical the lead track, Hands of Time, tells the story of growing on the family farm in Illinois and an allusion to Loretta Lynn, who she calls her hero. The album immediately established the unknown Price as a star, with appearances on Saturday Night Live, Parts Unknown, and NPRs Tiny Desk series to name just a few. Your Score. 0 out of 10. Even when the album drifts toward the traditional-as it does on Hurtin' On the Bottle or Four Years of Chances-Price's sensibility is modern, turning these old-fashioned tales of heartbreak, love, loss, and perseverance into something fresh and affecting.
