Best known for the part he plays in Polish progressive groundbreakers Riverside. His fifth album in this guise is differentyet familiar. Duda has talked about Fractured as the most original album hes made and the most accessible of the five LS albums the fact that theres even a back catalogue may surprise some. Its one of those underground projects that has continued to fly below the radar and build slowly, until suddenly, Fractured threatens to be the one that opens the door. Fractured by Lunatic Soul is not an album to be listened to in the evening. Its not meant to be savoured with a glass of wine, lights out or eyes closed. When youre broken, when your world has shattered and fallen apart into pieces, you start to flounce, you start to get het up, uncertain and afraid, your pulse is quicker and your breath shorter. That pulse, that flouncing, those sharp pieces are everywhere on this album, sometimes their edges are smoothed out with melodies, the piano, the acoustic guitar or symphonic orchestra but what you really feel inside is like that sax solo at the end of A Thousand Shards of Heaven or like the driving rhythm in Moving On. Where prior Lunatic Soul albums required a bit more patience of the listener, Fractured is much more immediately accessible and rewarding. Although Duda remains as serious as ever in his craft, the album is more uptempo and fun to listen to in ways that previous Lunatic Soul albums never aspired to, with an increased electronic influence that is consistently well-utilized. In addition to its melodic strengths, Fractured also continues the trend that Walking on a Flashlight Beam started by incorporating more progressive rock elements into the Lunatic Soul template
