Album

Spaces is an album by jazz guitarist Larry Coryell that was released in 1970 by Vanguard Records. Coryell is accompanied by John McLaughlin on guitar, Chick Corea on electric piano, Miroslav Vitouš on bass, and Billy Cobham on drums. The album was produced by Daniel Weiss and engineered by David Baker and Paul Berkowitz. The album is sometimes considered to have started the jazz fusion genre. Album Review: SPACES was recorded in 1969 but released in 1974. This album features the pioneer fusion guitarist Larry Coryell with quite an all-star group. Two selections match Coryell with fellow guitarist John McLaughlin, bassist Miroslav Vitous doubling on cello and drummer Billy Cobham, all important fusion players at the time. Rene's Theme is a guitar duet with McLaughlin, while Gloria's Steps a Scott LaFaro composition has Coryell, Vitous and Cobham jamming as a trio. Songs in album Larry Coryell - Spaces 1969. Review by Finnforest SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator. A must for guitar fans. Probably the album of Larry Coryell that he's most remembered for, and certainly the one of his breakthrough, Spaces came with this extraordinary colourful psychey artwork a Jacques Wyrs painting for a jazz album, even if not a pure jazz one. And what an all-star guest line-up too, inclining that LC had already gained respect from his pears way back in 69. Yes in some ways, Spaces is a groundbreaking album.
