Anna-Lisa Öst 1889-1974 was a Swedish gospel singer and recording artist, who was popular with both Swedish and Swedish-American audiences in the 1940s and 1950s. She performed in folk costume and was better known as Lapp-Lisa, a name reflecting the Sami heritage of her home district. Anna-Lisa Vikström was born October 8, 1889 in the village of Mark, about 20 miles northwest of Vilhelmina, Västerbotten. She was also one of many popular schlager and radio favourites in the 30-70s in Sweden. Anna-Lisa was saved after surviving drowning in a boat accident in 1908 and singing was her way to express her salvation. It's said that her voice achieved a new clarity after this experience. She devotedly began to learn the song treasure her folksinging mother handed down to her, consisting of something around 500 read more.
