Track 6: Co-produced by special guest Stevie Wonder, uncredited as such for contractual reasons, with the production credit listed as "Vicki Wickham and friend". Musician on this track included members of a band out of Philly called Buff and others from a Latin-black band out of Queens called Harlem River Drive. Several of them would morph to become Labelle's road band, including guitarist Eddie Martinez.

This release was their first and only for RCA Records, and was critically raved due to the songs that songwriter and member Nona Hendryx composed. Way ahead of its time, it set the scene for Labelle's pop breakthrough a few years later with their smash hit Lady Marmalade. Pressure Cookin' features nine compositions, many by group member Nona Hendryx, who has been actively involved with this reissue project, along with producer and Labelle manager Vicki Wickham. Stevie Wonder writes one and coproduces two tracks, identified as 'friend' due to his contractual position at the time. Album 1973 9 Songs. Pressure cooking is the process of cooking food at high pressure, employing water or a water-based cooking liquid, in a sealed vessel known as a pressure cooker. High pressure limits boiling, and permits cooking temperatures well above 100 C 212 F to be reached. The pressure cooker, invented by the physicist Denis Papin, works by expelling air from the vessel, and trapping the steam produced from the boiling liquid inside. This raises the internal pressures and permits high cooking temperatures. Despite RCA releasing the Stevie Wonder composition, Open Up Your Heart , the album failed to become a success.
