Four years after releasing the impressive pop design of Ampday, Motor City's Kiln perfect their electronic stillness for Sunbox. The five-song EP marks their first for Ghostly and it's a perfect fit, for the minimalist tinkering found on Sunbox is a suitable reflection of Ghostly's previously released material. Lux burbles and chugs along pleasantly, and Hong drifts much more into dub territory, even has it sustains itself on ethereal layers. The struggle between continuity and repetitiveness is not a problem as each track unfolds and enfolds to reveal manipulated, slightly askew aspects of eachother that hint at a common wholeness among them yet keeps you on your toes throughout.
