Björling surname also spelled as Bjoerling and Bjorling in English-language sources was born in Borlänge, Dalarna, Sweden, in February 1911. He also performed with his sons as Björlingkvartetten or the Björling Male Quartet. Jussi made his debut public appearance at five years of age. In 1953, he recorded the role of Turiddu in a complete version of Cavalleria rusticana opposite Milanov for RCA Victor, also included in this set. He recorded all the arias in this set many times but these are the best recordings. I have not listened to every disk yet but I did listen to the Aida and of course his great Tomb Scene with Milanov is even more spectacular than I remember it.
