Jonathan Swift 30 November 1667 19 October 1745 was an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, political pamphleteer first for the Whigs, then for the Tories, poet and cleric who became Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, hence his common sobriquet, Dean Swift. Swift is remembered for works such as A Tale of a Tub 1704, An Argument Against Abolishing Christianity 1712, Gulliver's Travels 1726, and A Modest Proposal 1729. He is regarded by the Encyclopædia Britannica as the foremost prose. John Swift then traveled through the Sixties and Seventies as a support act on world tour with YES 2x, Black Sabbath, Joe Cocker and The Rolling Stones. He associated with others like Albert Lee, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Marley, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills and many others. He played 5 times in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Jonathan Swift was born in Dublin, Ireland on 30 November 1667, second child and only son of Jonathan Swift and Abigaile Erick Swift. His father was dead before Jonathan, Junior was born, so the child's education was arranged by other relatives. Jonathan graduated from Trinity Colege, Dublin, in 1686 and then went to England to try his luck. He found a job as secretary to Sir William Temple, and it was in Sir William's household that he met Esther Stella Johnson and became her tutor.
