John Wesley Harding is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on December 27, 1967, by Columbia Records. Produced by Bob Johnston, the album marked Dylan's return to semi-acoustic instrumentation and folk-influenced songwriting after three albums of lyrically abstract, blues-indebted rock music. The Name Above the Title is an album released in February 1991 by folk-rock singer John Wesley Harding, his third successive Frank Capra-inspired album title this title coming from the director's autobiography. The tendency toward overblown, overlong songs continues unabated - two of the 15 songs break the six-minute barrier, with two more over five, and none of them could have been summarily dispatched in four or under - but more worryingly, the songwriting is simply nowhere near as good.
