It was released in 2003, the same year that Mayer received his first Grammy for Your Body Is A Wonderland. The title of the album is supposedly a response to a criticism of his first album, Room For Squares, where one critic quipped that Mayer could write about some heavier things, or harsher subject matters. Mayer himself denies this, explaining the title as: I think its completely nondescript and dumb, its kind of blunt, you know . No, Mayer is smooth, slick, and streamlined on his second or third album it all depends if you count his 1999 debut, Inside Wants Out, half of which was re-recorded for Room for Squares, which itself was released in two different incarnations, playing things straight and following the blueprint his big radio hit, Your Body Is a Wonderland, provided.
