Johnny Reid John Edwards born June 10, 1953 is an American lawyer and former politician who served as a U. senator from North Carolina. He was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in 2004, and was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008. Edwards defeated incumbent Republican Lauch Faircloth in North Carolina's 1998 Senate election. Towards the end of his six-year term, he opted to retire from the Senate and focus on a Democratic campaign in the 2004. John Victor Rhino Edwards born 9 May 1953 is an English bass guitarist, playing in the rock group Status Quo. He was educated at Chiswick Grammar School and Stinsford School, Dorchester. Born in Chiswick, London, Edwards learnt classical violin as a child and won a scholarship to the London College of Music at the age of eleven.
