It was recorded at Metropolis Studios in London and produced by punk rock veteran Bill Price, who had recorded albums by Sex Pistols and The Clash. The album was recorded live in the studio and the music was not arranged by the producer in order to achieve a rough, live sound. With many surprises up their sleeves, and no plan to give up anytime in the near future, the five-headed Eyes formed in August of 2001 and the bands first full-length arrived two years later via Dischord. Their shows were chaotic and often melted down into frenzied jam sessions. A second full-length, Cough, came out in May of 2004. The album introduced saxophone to the mix and relied more heavily on improvisational and dub influences. The band broke up shortly before the album was released. Black Eyes was an American post-punk band from Washington, D. that existed from August 2001 to March 2004, disbanding two months prior to the release of their second album, Cough. Its members included Dan Caldas, Jacob Long, Mike Kanin, Daniel Martin-McCormick and Hugh McElroy. Prior to releasing the first album, Black Eyes released a 2-song 7 EP and a split EP of Someone Has His Fingers Broken entitled Have Been Murdered Again. Black Eyes' self-titled debut album was released on April 15, 2003. Black Eyes self-titled debut displays a band with a hold on the experimental side of D. punk - a path paved by Fugazi and, particularly in this case, Q and Not U. This five-piece band takes dub, bass-driven grooves, and kooky vocals of the Liars and Q and Not U's off-kilter dance punk and plays them
