It was the first album in which the band used keyboards from the start, which they said was like having a fifth member. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village and The Magic Shop Studios in New York City, the album is the group's first to be released on a major label, following the release of their debut and follow-up albums on the independent label Matador Records. On Our Love to Admire, Interpol spends roughly half their time following Antics' game plan of distilling their sound into readily accessible hooks, and the other half stretching their sound with deluxe arrangements and filigrees like strings, brass, and keyboards all of which are used to grand.
