This playlist has no tracks yet. Album release date: 26 July 2005. Keep on Sailing. Iain Matthews born Ian Matthews MacDonald, 16 June 1946 is an English musician and singer-songwriter. He was an original member of the British folk rock band Fairport Convention from 1967 to 1969 before leaving and forming his own band, Matthews Southern Comfort, which had a UK number one in 1970 with a cover version of Joni Mitchell's song Woodstock. Born in Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire, Matthews was known in the 1960s as Ian MacDonald, but changed his name to Ian Matthews. Ian Matthews has tried to distance himself somewhat from Valley Hi, claiming Mike Nesmith's production was too country-ish for his taste. That's too bad, because Valley Hi is clearly the superior of the two albums on this disc. The addition of the not-quite-as-dazzling album SOME DAYS YOU EAT THE BEAR . still is a wonderful plus, with some of the songs ranging from oh-so-mellow to the truly toe tapping rowdy: free music is always appreciated, and free music by Ian Matthews and friends is just a no-brainer This really takes me back although it's still in my regularly rotating queue.
