According to her 1981 autobiography Hazel O'Connor - Uncovered Plus, Ee-I-Adio was her first release and was recorded during her first ever session. Written seven months previously, it was inspired by her parents arguing when she was young. Hazel O'Connor grew up in Coventry and while still a teenager embarked on an epic journey which led to her dancing in Tokyo, being raped in North Africa, and bombed by the Israeli airforce before finding fame with writing the soundtrack for and starring in Breaking Glass. She became famous in the early 1980s with hit singles Eighth Day, D-Days and Will You, as well as starring in the film Breaking Glass. The film's soundtrack album featured songs written and performed by O'Connor and reached number 5 in the UK Albums Chart. It had a 38-week chart run and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry. Several tracks from the album were released as singles, the most successful being Eighth Day and Will You with a notable saxophone solo by Wesley Magoogan which both reached the UK Top 10.
