With big production and even bigger hooks, 30 Seconds Over Otho is as close as your going to get to a perfect commercial pop album. Taking their power pop sound into the AOR field may have killed a lesser band, but Hawks more than met the challenge. Practically every track on this album could've been a hit single. Somewhere in the Night is a song that both Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon would've died to record. Nobody Loses Tonight should be played on every classic rock station for the next 30 years. A third album, Perfect World Radio, was released in 2003, not on the Columbia label but on Not Lame Records. In 1979 Frank Wiewel had recorded a number of tracks when his wife Denise convinced him the songs were good enough and insisted he send them out to the major record labels. Interest was shown by Columbia Record and Capitol Records. Both companies wanted to see the band live.
