Hans Abrahamsen (b. 1952) is one of Denmark's most prominent composers. His earliest works were influenced by the so-called New Simplicity, but as early as the string quartet Ten Preludes from 1973 and the orchestral work Stratifications (1973-74), both of which have become major works in Danish music, he demonstrated a profoundly original personality and style, typified by imagination, a moving lyricism and spirituality. Abrahamsen's catalogue is short and consists mainly of instrumental works, several of which have won international fame.

Hans Abrahamsen born 23 December 1952 is a Danish composer born in Copenhagen. His interest in composition and piano began after hearing his father playing piano. His first attempts at little melodies were designed to be played with the only two fingers on his right hand that were capable of playing the instrument.
