Szell is fantastic with the control he has over the orchestra and the way he clearly articulates the bass at the beginning of the first movement you actually hear each note the heavy bass makes and what phenomenal sound. This continues for the rest of the recording - the perfect balance among all orchestra counterparts reigns throughout.
