Three Sides Live is the third live album by the English rock band Genesis, released as a double album on 4 June 1982 on Charisma Records in the United Kingdom. It was released by Atlantic Records in the United States. After touring in support of their studio album Abacab ended in December 1981 the band entered an eight-month break in activity, during which they selected recordings from their previous tours for a live album. There was confusion from the start because, despite its title, Three Sides Live in its British version, as Charisma GE 2002, had four concert sides. The U. version, which determined the title, was made up of ten live cuts recorded on-stage in Germany in 1981, with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson in the group's lineup, doing the leaner, more pop-oriented repertory that constituted the group's sound by the early '80s, off of the albums Abacab and Duke. Genesis released 'Three Sides Live,' an album featuring concert and studio material, on June 1, 1982. That makes Three Sides Live a recommended entry point for anyone who came to Genesis via the MTV-era hits, and is now curious about what came before. It's a perfect bridge to the past. The songs may sound odd nowadays, but they are still very good and cannot be discarted as pure commercial stuff. Three Sides Live is a live album release by UK poprock act Genesis. Genesis' third live album, this one in particular taking place from their A Trick of the Tail Tour in 1976, all the way to their Abacab Tour in 1981. This mainly features songs from Abacab, Duke, and a couple of oldies. Note: In the North American, European & Japanese release of Three Sides Live, the last 3 songs in the tracklisting on this site were replaced by B-sides from both Duke and Abacab.
