Album

Convergence is a compilation album by Canadian industrial artist Front Line Assembly. This release contains all but two tracks from the Corrosion and Disorder releases, The Wrack Part III - Wisdom, and Aggression respectively. The latter would later be re-released on Corroded Disorder. All tracks are written by Bill Leeb and Michael Balch, except where noted. Tracks 1, 35, 1113 from Corrosion. Tracks 2, 7, 8, 14 from Disorder. Tracks 6, 9, 10 previously unreleased. Industrial rock had developed into a powerful underground subculture by the end of the 1980s, and Front Line Assembly was one of the bands to enjoy this rabid following. At the time, they were helping to create the image of industrial rock, experimenting with samples and drum machines in a time when only a handful of bands were trying it. What makes Convergence so interesting is seeing how so many bands took what Front Line Assembly was doing and copied it without any change. Front Line Assembly first appeared on the track titled Aggression. It was one of the tons on For Your Ears Only that was released by the British record label named Third Mind. During the next year that track was released again on the EP named Disorder. The band maintained a long-term relationship with Third Mind. The bands next album was titled State of Mind and released the early 1988 During this time the band changed to Dossier, which was an independent record label from Germany. The band changed labels since Leeb was against having a business contract with only one label. As a result the company only used European labels
