Their first studio album in 6 years following 2011's Speed of Darkness, it is also their first album to feature drummer Mike Alonso, and their last album with banjo player Bob Schmidt. Drunken Lullabies, Float, Whiskey on a Sunday, all crucial albums to my life's experience. I saw them in concert. Life is good is a fairly solid album that takes a step back from their failed attempt to out-pogue the Pogues and fuses their celtic rockpunk roots with bits of blues and soul. It took a listen or two before I felt I got it, and its certainly not going to replace the classics, but I really think this is an interesting phase in the groups development. Album 2017 12 Songs. Reptiles We Woke Up is a Springsteen-esque call for political activism, while Crushed Hostile Nations uses militaristic fiddles and guitars to call out the violence of oppressive states. But Flogging Molly tackle the personal as well on the bittersweet title track, lead singer Dave King reflects on what really matters in life. Two decades into their career, Los Angeles folk-punk stalwarts Flogging Molly maintain a fiery presence, certainly on-stage, but also in the studio as they deliver their sixth LP, Life Is Good.
