The press release calls Jakens Tid trollish hoedown metal, which is to say that Finntroll incorporates some of the folk- and polka-based musics indigenous to their native Finland into their Wagnerian death metal. The fusion of styles apparently began as a drunken experiment, and it's hard to tell whether the resulting humor was intended or not. There are a few English translations of Finntroll lyrics on the internet however, many of those are rather awkward and inaccurate. Mostly the lyrics follow the story of a Troll-King and his minions raping, pillaging,and killing christians. But even if you dont have the lyrics, the album is still a great background listen.
