Recorded on a Sony TC164A cassette tape machine (no dolby / no nothing) during the J. Drew series at Action Space in London, on Friday the 1st of April, 1977.

The performance, reported to be the first and possibly the last of this trio, was recorded by David Toop on a Sony TC164A cassette tape machine and was created with a variety of music instruments and sound producing devices including different kind of flutes, trumpets, whistles, panpipes, drums, cymbals, fiddles, respiratory and vocal sounds, body percussion. The CD version of Cholagogues has been digitally re-mastered by Dave Hunt with David Toop and comes with a reproduction of the original Lp artwork. Originally released in 1977, this one-off recording by the trio of Nestor Figueras, David Toop and Paul Burwell is an eminently worthy reissue a document of free improvisation that still sounds incredibly modern by today's standards. Spread out across forty minutes this piece focuses on the airy timbres of woodwind and respiratory sounds. This is a discography of albums released on Bead Records. Bead Records was setup by Pete Cusack and Simon Mayo for the release of the Milk Teeth album in 1975. They were joined by Philipp Wachsmann, Tony Wren, Simon Mayo and Richard Beswick for the release of the Chamberpot album. Bead operated for a number of years as a collective with the musicians funding and retaining ownership of the music.
