The Felt Tips formed in the summer of 2006, although actually the beginning of the story goes back to October 2005 when two strangers, Andrew Paterson and Miguel Navarro met.
Andrew had been writing songs and trying to form a band in Glasgow for a long time; in those days Miguel had just arrived in Glasgow, city where most of his favourite bands emerged from, and was looking for musicians to play with.
After replying an advert put up by Andrew that mentioned Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths, Pulp and Scott Walker as influences on his songs, they met, got on and started playing together.
Not long after, Neil Masson, Andrew’s childhood friend who listened to some of the songs, felt interested enough in the project to borrow a bass guitar from a friend and join the band.
The three of them spent some months rehearsing in bedrooms and studios with the help of a small drum machine and some little-successful drummers, until the band got completed eventually with the arrival of Adam Doran. Adam was replaced in early 2008 by Kevin H. Carroll, completing the current lineup.

It was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne with Lindsay Gravina producing for Modular Recordings. The cover art, as described by front man Chris Cheney, is based on a photograph of a World War I all-female bomb factory. The album reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and remained in the top 50 for 63 weeks. Their album is a sterling example of late 60searly 70s American underground rock n roll a very strong disc. Felt alternates between crunchy blues based rock with biting teenage vocals and Beatlesque psych. Their ten minute epic, The Change, is two or three songs wrapped into one. Most bands would never be able to pull a trick like this off but Felt gets by on great musicianship and interesting arrangements: plenty of potent guitar solos, fresh organ interplay, blistering drums and brooding hard rock vocals
