To FEELS, expressing deep concern for the state of the world means not giving a fuck about decorum and civility. On their 2016 self-titled debut, FEELS didnt sound like a band overly fixated with the fate of civilization, with producer Ty Segall wrapping their tunefully tattered garage-psych in cotton-candy fuzz and wiggy reverb. But Tim Green was in the producer's chair for Post Earth, and this music sounds sharper, tighter, and distinctly punkier than the debut, with the garage moves more natural and the guitar crosstalk more expressive in round two. Feels is the sixth studio album by Baltimore-based band Animal Collective, released in October 2005 by FatCat Records. The album received acclaim from music critics, and was included at number 55 on Pitchfork's list of The 200 Best Albums of the 2000s. As of 2008, Feels sold 55,000 copies in the US. Feels is known for its unconventional guitar sounds, which were obtained in part by the unique tuning the band used. While confusing, Post Earth shines very brightly when it does shine. Awful Need, the second track on Post Earth, showcases the bands versatility as well as the beautifully layered harmonies of Geronimo and guitarist Shannon Lay. Sitting delicately over a surf-rock-inspired groove, it is very easy to hear the history between the band members and the ease in which they emote in harmony, a musical capacity that is often overlooked in the Garage Rock scene. Genre: Post-Punk. The album succeeded not by doing something earth shattering new, but rather by just presenting a great collection of tracks. Several songs on the album provide a harder edge and darker tone by incorporating garage rock and Post-Punk into the mix.
