It was released on March 26, 1997 by Elektra Records. The album spawned five singles, including the top ten chart hits Semi-Charmed Life, Jumper, and How's It Going to Be. The album contains all of their singles with the exception of Anything, a handful of fan and band favorites, as well as three unreleased-via-LP songs: Tattoo of the Sun, My Time in Exile and Slow Motion with lyrics. What does dominate is the lushness of sound, the sweetness of melody: this is a soft rock album through and through, one that's about melodic hooks and texture. Its only the second album from the band in 37 years. Through the magic of modern technology, Daltrey and Townshend recorded it earlier this year in London and Los Angeles without ever being in the same room. Townshend says they were once in the same building. Whenever one of them hit the others magnetic field, they bounced away. They never made eye contact.
