The black glossy gold foil stamped cover holds the most visually stunning object in the history of recording... not because you listen to it to calibrate phonographic cartridges on stereos... Nope because this thing has very stunningly regulated grooves that look like nothing else... yeah all records have lovely grooves, some even have intentional holographs... but this one has unintentional iridescence that puts them all to shame. It's also a thick slab of Microfusion process vinyl made right here in the U.S.A.

Cook was also clever with marketing, this record proved the quality of his cutting equipment. In the early days of the microgroove, I dont think there were very many other options for the hobbyist beyond the Cook record. Its levels test out to be accurately described and it is well calibrated to the RIAA curve, so its quite useful for setting levels, balance and testing the frequency response of a cartridge.
