And Jochum plays the Nimrod with sensitivity, not as a one shot over the top demo piece. All 14 themes are musically refined and one can enjoy the quiet passages. Jochum was also a superb Brahms interpreter and the Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn never sounded so Brahms like. The LP pressing is particularly quiet.
