Посмотреть сведения об участниках альбома, рецензии, композиции и приобрести альбом 1989 CD от Dylan & The Dead на possibly the worst album by either Bob Dylan or the Grateful Dead, the live Dylan & the Dead completely squanders its promise. Working from an intriguing selection of songs - it includes staples like Knockin' on Heaven's Door and more obscure gems like Joey - the Dead and Dylan contribute listless, meandering versions that are simply boring. Both artists have done much better - reportedly they have done better together, according to various bootleg fans - but Dylan & the Dead is a sad, disheartening document. Track Listing. In fact, despite the presence of the Dead, the album is an all-too-typical late-Eighties Dylan album, fascinating for the expectations it raises and frustrating in the ways it keeps missing the mark. Yet theres evidence that Dylan and the Dead had a good thing going, intermittently anyway. The Deads elastic rhythms are well suited to the shuffle beat of Dylans 79 sermonettes Slow Train and Gotta Serve Somebody. The Dylan-Dead tour was a historic collaboration certainly worth recording for posterity. Dylan & the Dead, though, makes you wonder what the fuss was about. You really had to be there. For a man openly hostile to tie-dyed nostalgia, Bob Dylan's 1987 summer tour with the Grateful Dead was a confounding event indeed. The result on this concert recording is Dylan warbling across the usual Dead groove: neither rock nor roll. For the July 1987 shows collected on Dylan & the Dead which was released almost two years after the tour, producers Jerry Garcia and John Cutler mostly stuck to songs familiar to people who buy stop-gap live albums like this. I Want You, All Along the Watchtower, Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Slow Train which netted some rock-radio airplay are among the LP's seven cuts. But the record, like many of the shows Dylan and the Dead played together, was a major snoozer. It consists of seven songs written and sung by Dylan, with the Dead providing accompaniment. Originally, there was additional songs to be used on the cd but that would have meant that the lp version of the album would have run a album and a half
