Trio became one of the most honored and loved albums of 1987, including the remake of the Ronnie Spector single performed originally by the Teddy Bears, To Know Him is to Love Him. The song reached No. 1 on the Country Singles Charts. Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris ended up uniting and eventually collaborated on 1987's four-million-selling debut album, Trio. Dolly, Emmylou & Linda got together, and I'm mighty glad they did since they made this beautiful album of eleven hand-picked songs by such songwriters as Jimmie Rodgers, Linda Thompson, Jean Ritchie, Kate McGarrigle, Rodney Crowell, Phil Spector, and Dolly herself. They pretty much take turns to sing lead, though one or two songs they simply sing in unison. Bringing together Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, and Linda Ronstadt for the album Trio was a truly inspired idea, and not simply because they were three of the finest voices in country and pop music at the time.
