It was released on February 9, 2018 through Fueled by Ramen and Dine Alone Records. It is their first studio album in nine years, following 2009's Alter the Ending. The album debuted at number 53 on the Billboard 200, as well as number four on both the Billboard Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts. But Crooked Shadows, Dashboards seventh album, is also a chance to acknowledge the reasons it sometimes seems better to let those lyrics lie dormant in the cultural subconscious. There was a tension between Dashboards austere origins and the full-band gloss needed for a stretch of three gold albums released between 2001 and 2006.
