Album

Horrendous Disc is the third studio album by Christian rock band Daniel Amos. Originally recorded in 1978 for Maranatha Music, it was not released until 1981 when it was issued by Larry Norman's Solid Rock Records, weeks before the release of the band's fourth album. The album is noted as a departure from the band's early country rock sound. DA had almost completely abandoned the country sound of their first record by late 1977 and early 1978, when this album was recorded with co-producer Mike D. Daniel Amos is: TERRY TAYLOR: lead vocals and guitars JERRY CHAMBERLAIN: lead guitar and vocals lead vocal on Man in the Moon and Horrendous Disc verses and choruses MARK COOK: keyboards and vocals lead vocal on Never Leave You MARTY DIECKMEYER: bass guitar ED McTAGGART: drums and vocals ALEX MacDOUGALL: drums and percussion. Additional Musicians: FEMALE VOCALS Horrendous Disc: SHARON McLAUGHLIN and JANET McTAGGART FEMALE VOCAL Sky King: JANET McTAGGART SAX On The Line: KIM HUTCHCROFT. After three years in limbo, the long-awaited Horrendous Disc was released to a hungry public, opening with the blistering riffs of I Love You 19 - probably the hardest that Christian rock had rocked ever up to that point. This is reminiscent in many ways of the Beatles' Abbey Road, especially Sky King, Never Leave You, and Man in the Moon. Horrendous Disc marks Daniel Amoss full retreat from country-rock. Had it come out in 1978, as planned, it might have offered fans an intermediate step between the artsy country-rock of 1977s Shotgun Angel and the angular new wave of Alarmabut instead, the gap between those albums would be felt very strongly and turned many fans off.
