Faît Accompli is the first single from the album Doppelgänger by alternative rock band Curve. It was released on 24 February 1992 it reached 22 in the UK singles chart, becoming their highest charting single in the UK. It was one of the first singles in the UK to reach the Top 40 without a release on 7 vinyl. Faît Accompli extended extended extended was included in the compilation Pubic Fruit, issued in 1992. Faît Accompli was selected as Single of the Week by Melody Maker. Released as an adjunct to the actual Fait Accompli single itself, this EP, as the title clearly indicates, features an extended remix of the track done by the band and its production team itself. As a result it's not that different from the original recording, but it's a still a fine take on the song, stretching out the combination of brisk, punchy funk rhythm, industrialtechno dance touches, guitar blasts and Halliday's cool and controlled singing with good results. Faît Accompli on the A side remains perhaps the best known Curve tune after all. It still sounds fresh, hasn't lost its pop- and sex appeal, and the beats still prove effective. The B side tunes, which are not featured on the Pubic Fruit compilation as opposed to all other early EP tracks, are two secret gems. Arms Out has lighter drums, noisier guitars and a dreamier sound, whereas Sigh is more free-form, more fragile and yet cool as Curve always were, arguably the highlight here. HallidayGarcia make the best out of their knack for melodic seduction on this three-tracker. Rispondi Avver.
