On his fourth album under the name Conforce, Boris Bunnik continues to produce dubby ambient techno that nods to '90s Detroit techno and early IDM. His albums are typically heavier in atmosphere than his more club-centric 12 EPs, which focus more on steady beats. Presentism is a bit smoother and more danceable than his previous full-length, 2013's abstract Kinetic Image, but as it progresses, it seems to become more submerged. Conforce - Presentism Releasing roughly an album a year as Conforce, Boris Bunnik has created a tangible sense of momentum, and not solely through the frequency of his output. Then Kinetic Image appeared like a foul mood swing, exposing sonic aggression and razor-sharp edges unified by melodic discord. Prolific Dutch artist Conforce is back with another LP on Delsin Records. This one marks something of a subtle evolution in his sound in that it returns to a more organic and immersive aesthetic. Made using various bits of outboard gear, it fuses dub rhythm with ambient detail and propulsive 44 kick drums to make for absorbing listening.
