The Last Wave of Summer is the sixth studio album by Australian pub rock band, Cold Chisel. It was released in October 1998 and reached number-one on The Australian ARIA Charts. It was the band's first studio album in 14 years. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1999, the album was nominated for ARIA Award for Best Rock Album. Released 14 years after Cold Chisel had released their last studio album Twentieth Century, there was a considerable amount of speculation in the press before the release of The Last.
